Vision impaired walkers step out on Gorleston seafront

Guided Seafront Walks On Offer For Vision Impaired People In Great Yarmouth

People living with sight loss in the Great Yarmouth area are being given the chance to step out on a monthly guided seafront walk, to boost their physical and mental wellbeing.

Vision Norfolk’s hub in the town is organising the walks to enable vision impaired people to enjoy the fresh air, exercise, and social interaction.

Staff and volunteers from the charity will be on hand to guide walkers, whatever the extent of their sight loss.  The two hour walks will each end in a café where walkers can enjoy tea and cakes.

“As spring approaches, a number of our clients were asking us to Catherine Bond, leisure activities co-ordinator at Vision Norfolk’s Great Yarmouth hub.

“Our monthly walks will be an easy two-hour stroll, with our staff and volunteers on hand to guide those who need it, and ensure that everyone has a great time.”

The first walk of 2025 took place this week, when walkers enjoyed the sunshine during a walk along Gorleston’s promenade.  The next seafront walk will take place on Tuesday 26th May at 1pm.  For more details, visit www.visionnorfolk.org.uk/great-yarmouth-hub.
