CAMPAIGNING

Giving people with sight loss a voice

At Vision Norfolk, we believe that sight loss should never be a barrier to living a fulfilling, independent life. Yet, many everyday challenges, from poorly designed public spaces to inaccessible transport, can make independence and inclusion difficult for people with vision impairment.
That’s why we campaign on issues that matter, working to remove barriers, influence policy, and ensure the voices of people with sight loss are heard. Whether it’s tackling the impact of e-scooters, or raising awareness about the challenges of pavement parking, we work to shape a society that is more inclusive and accessible for all.

Our campaigning in action

The COVID-19 pandemic created unique difficulties for people with sight loss, particularly around social distancing. Many found it hard to maintain safe distances, while others faced negative reactions from the public when navigating busy spaces.

Vision Norfolk worked hard to raise awareness and educate the public. Our co-chair, Rev Simon Stokes, led discussions on BBC Look East, and we partnered with local shops to train staff on assisting vision impaired customers safely.

Please help us support people through sight loss

Here’s how your donation can change the life of someone living with sight loss in Norfolk today:

£22

covers the cost of an outreach visit to help someone living with sight loss to access benefits, assistive equipment and health-related support so they can live independently at home.

£220

can fund an exciting social activity for children and young people, like karate or tubing – an opportunity for them to get together, have fun and make friends in a supportive environment.

£2,200

could provide a full year’s funding for our weekly crafting sessions, giving people with sight loss the chance to socialise and learn new skills like weaving, pottery and rug-making.
