A group of vision impaired Norwich cooks have taken a step closer to independent living thanks to a generous donation of an air fryer by cookware company Shark Ninja.
The group, which meets regularly at Norfolk sight loss charity Vision Norfolk to learn cookery skills which will enable them to enhance their independence, are using the new device, which has been equipped with touch-bumpers and other adaptations, to make a variety of dishes.
The monthly cookery lessons, which are led by community outreach worker Sue Warnes, see participants learn a range of dishes they can prepare for themselves in their own homes.
Supporting people living with sight loss to lead independent lives is a key aim of the charity, which is celebrating its 220th anniversary this year.
“Basic life skills such as cookery are absolutely vital to enable vision impaired people to live independently in their own homes,” said Vision Norfolk fundraising manager Joe Russell.
“Having the right equipment, with adaptations where appropriate, makes this so much easier, and we are very grateful to Shark Ninja for their generous gift.”
