Gorleston will be the destination for the latest in a series of guided seafront walks aimed at helping people with sight loss boost their physical and mental wellbeing by stepping out and taking the sea air.
The town will be the location for the walk on Thursday 26th June, the latest in a series of regular guided seafront walks organised by the Great Yarmouth hub of sight loss charity Vision Norfolk.
The aim is to enable vision impaired people to enjoy the fresh air, exercise, and social interaction.
Staff and volunteers from the charity will be on hand to guide walkers, whatever the extent of their sight loss. The gentle two hour walk will each end in a café where walkers can enjoy tea and cakes.
“We have been running these guided walks every other month since February, when a hardy bunch braved the windy weather on the Great Yarmouth seafront,” said Edward Bates, Vision Norfolk’s Great Yarmouth hub co-ordinator.
“With the weather forecast looking considerably kinder, our next walk looks like being a sunny affair, the ideal weather to enjoy everything that Gorleston has to offer.
“Our bi-monthly walks take the form of an easy two-hour stroll, with our staff and volunteers on hand to guide those who need it, and to ensure that everyone has a great time.”
The next seafront walk will take place on Thursday 26th June at 1pm, meeting at the bandstand in Pier Gardens.
Those wishing to take part are encouraged to register their interest by phoning Vision Norfolk’s Great Yarmouth hub on 01493 745973, or by emailing [email protected].
