With the better weather fast approaching, we are pleased to announce that we will be offering more opportunities to join our tandem cycle rides around Norwich this spring and summer!
What are the benefits of cycling?
Cycling is a low impact form of exercise which can help to improve your cardiovascular fitness and lower body strength. It’s a great way of enjoying the great outdoors, making it a good mood booster too.
How does it work?
Vision Norfolk has tandem bicycles which we maintain and store at our Norwich community hub. To make your ride as safe and enjoyable as possible, we will pair you with one of our experienced volunteer cyclists who are trained as tandem pilots to support people with vision impairment.
We will set up a time that works for both you and your volunteer pilot. Rides can be organised during the day or in the evenings or weekends, depending on what works best for you. It’s free to take part, and we are happy to chat to you ahead of time about any questions or concerns you may have.
How far will I have to cycle?
The rides can vary in distance and will be adjusted to suit your ability and preference. Our tandem pilot volunteers are familiar with Norwich and the surrounding areas and will come up with a route that works best for you both.
How can I sign up?
To find out more or to register your interest, please call Richard on 01603 573000 Ext.322 or email [email protected] and we will let you know the next steps.
What if I can’t make it to Norwich?
We also offer tandem cycling rides in West Norfolk every Monday with trained volunteers from Cycling UK. These include shorter rides around the King’s Lynn area and further afield. We are hoping to offer rides around the Swaffham area from June 2026. If you live in these areas and would like to take part, please give us a call on 01553 660808.
