Key facts
We support people living with sight loss to enjoy independent and fulfilled lives – here are just some of the facts and figures about the work we do:
- There are over 36,000 people in Norfolk with some degree of sight loss
- On average, more than 4,000 people with visual impairment are supported by Vision Norfolk each year
- More than 200 volunteers help us to deliver our services
- A team of ten volunteers – all of whom have direct experience of sight loss – provides weekly telefriends calls to 70 people with visual impairment
- Nine volunteers provide direct support at eye clinics at Norfolk’s four hospitals (in Norwich, King’s Lynn, Great Yarmouth and Cromer), helping patients access resources, as well as providing emotional support
- Our activities programme delivers a wide range of activities – for example, in 2020 we held 80 audio book club meetings
